Seeing this movie in the theater is one of the few crystal-clear memories I have of being 6 years old. Disney made a lot of great animated musicals during their heyday, but Beauty and the Beast really is on another level. This song still makes me choke up a little, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken were brilliant songwriters.

I love this type of disney. I'm sad that the only things disney come out with are also more or less CGI and pixar type of things. Dont get me wrong those are good too. But these are the true inspirations and awesome stuff i feel. I do get really disapointed if i talk to the younger generation and go "Have you seen the little mermaid or beauty and the beast, bambi etc?" and they just go "no" I really wish Disney would start making films like this again x

What a great movie and song! The Legendary Angela Lansbury thought that another character would be better suited to sing the ballad "Beauty and the Beast". The director asked her to make at least one recording to have for a back up if nothing else worked, and that one recording ended up in the film. A Wise Decision!
