She never says that 1 in 10 people have anorexia, she says 1 in 10 people have an eating disorder. I am certainly willing to believe that both you and she are correct. But people are a lot more likely to believe you when you give them your reason beyond the fact. Cause the way it sounded was that you were just trying to be an ass and discredit someone who is trying to do good things for women. After hearing all you have to say I don't think that was what you were trying to do.

I think hollywood is to blame for a lot of girls and women having eating disorders. Back in the day, women had real bodies. I guess Marilyn Monroe would be considered fat, and she had a great figure in my opinion. Kate Moss does not look sexy to me. She looks like she has AIDS. I can't understand why excessive skinnyness is considered sexy.

you can be a smart ass and act all laid back and stuff- but i have a doctor and a dietitionist that i see regulary, because i have ana. and they have givin me the statistics. also, every website that ive been to about ana, have said 1 in 100!!! and for who i am- well im 12 and live with ana. so ya, stop being so concieted.
pearljamprincess (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
yeah, because I'm going to believe you, who as far as I know have done no research, over her who does this type of research for a living. Yeah right. Who the hell are you?
tmigurl96 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

of course your view is not wrong, i mean I work in the Fashion Business. But I can tell you that the most Girls there are Natural Thin and the Goals are not impossible. I mean I see that Girls in my Work time. And you cant deny that People all over the World become fat. For Germany for Example 51% of the Women and 66% Men are overweight. So to be realistic fat is more than thin People, but of course to thin is a Problem too.Look the statistic and i guess you will see.

There is no panic and this womans opinion is not a lie...The concern (and the point she is making) is that the media is setting impossible goals that make the majority of women feel inadequate. This in turn causes eating disorders and the desire to mutilate ones own body through plastic surgery. If anyone thinks this is a positive way of inspiring the obese to lose weight. Think again.
